Opportunities like this don't appear too often. But then, neither do people like you. A "leader for
leaders" - an individual with outstanding leadership skills and an ability to influence at the highest level in the political arena. If that sounds like you, you're going to relish the sound of this: the chance to lead a high profile organisation and to be a significant voice in education.
As General Secretary of the NAHT, you will lead the Association and be a highly visible public face in the educational and political arena. Through a combination of successful political influence and the provision of highest quality services to members, the NAHT is already the largest association for school leaders in the UK and represents more than 29,000 school leaders in early years, primary, secondary and special schools. Our members consist of head teachers, deputies, assistants and school business managers. We provide representation, advice and training for school leaders in England, Wales and Northern Ireland. We use our voice at the highest levels of government to influence policy for the benefit of leaders and learners everywhere. NAHT Edge supports, develops and represents middle leaders in schools.
We are a registered trade union and the largest organisation of its kind in Europe; it will be your role to maintain this position and to continuously drive forward the influence and service provision of the Association.
To be successful you will have the ability to provide clear leadership, at both an external and internal level as this role will have direct reports to manage. You will work successfully at all levels (including senior networking and governmental lobbying), and will maintain a clear overview of issues affecting current thinking on education. A strong understanding of the educational environment is essential for this role.
You will influence, inspire and innovate at every turn and be passionate about the true value that this role can facilitate. As the "public face" of the Association you will need to be available 7 days a week for media commentary and TV appearances.
